Ellen and Samuel Yates, their ten children and spouses
If you have read The Ellen Yates Story, you will know of the wonderful things Ellen and her husband did for the community during their lives. But what about the rest of the family? Their descendants are spread all over the world, and there are hundreds of them. Some never left Croft and died here and some fought for their country. All of them have an interesting tale to tell. I will start with each story of the ten children, born between 1803 and 1819, and their direct descendants.
John Yates was born on 30 January 1806 in Croft, Lancashire, and died the same day. He was laid to rest at Risley Presbyterian Chapel. There is no surviving headstone.
